Athena Grant gets a call from the hospital on her day off, claiming that she needs to come in to discuss options for Buck, as his emergency contact. A lot of information is reveled, and she finally understands what the boy she's come to see as her own has been through. Or: Buck throws another clot, calls the 118 & Maddie out on their shit, lets Athena hold him as he cries, and then finally talks to Eddie.

Post-Lawsuit Buck is the man behind but doesn't complain and things look bleak until one day an unexpected visitor stops by the station and like the title says, drops one hell of a truth bomb on Bobby and the 118 regarding what was really going on.

When a work conflict prevents Athena from accompanying Bobby to Minnesota for the ten year anniversary of his family dying, Buck and May offer to go instead. Over the course of the trip, they all learn more about each other, and Bobby faces his grief.

When Eddie gets a phone call from his son's science teacher about reasonable accommodations it sets off a series of events that turn his life completely upside down. "I should probably get going," Buck says. "It's a school night after all." Eddie appreciates this devotion to duty, but at the same time he's a little disappointed. He's repaid Buck's favor so now there's no need for them to see each other except on parent teacher night. But he doesn't want that. It's been a handful of hours and the thought of Buck never coming by again already seems impossible. "Look," he says, letting the words come out of his mouth before he can overthink them back in again. "I don't know about you, but making friends when you're a single dad with an insane job is hard. I have your number. Is it okay if I use it for non-school purposes?" Buck's insta-smile is so bright it's practically blinding. "I would love that."

Eddie's fight club era has unexpected consequences that begin with Buck and Chris getting kidnapped at gunpoint. Nobody expects just how far Buck will go to keep his favorite Diaz safe.

We didn't..” Or: Buck and Eddie wake up with a bad hangover, a marriage certificate and more questions than answers. Eddie realizes he has to reevaluate some things, but life gets in the way.

When Philip and Margaret decide to visit Los Angeles on the weekend of a big Grant-Nash barbeque, Bobby encourages Buck and Maddie to invite their parents so they don't have to miss out. When Philip and Margaret cause problems, Buck sees what he means to the family he chose. AKA I was angry at the Buckley parents and decided to vent in the form of little sister wrath.

The dying light catches the hair on Buck’s stomach, glinting where it smatters across the firm, broad planes of his belly—Eddie resolutely does not pay heed to his monkey brain’s kneejerk response of bite—crowding thick and snaking down into the waistband of his shorts. Now Buck is in no way slut-shaming anyone, he would never, not only because it’s completely unacceptable and people can do whatever the hell they want with their own bodies as long as everything is consensual, but because of the old saying and all - those in glass houses, yadda yadda. Buck knows slutty, he was slutty, but Eddie’s slutty is a whole other kind of slutty, not like Buck’s, which was sad and lonely and done for reasons he’s needed a lot of therapy to come to terms with, but Eddie’s? Eddie’s is fun and happy and joyful sluttiness. (or the one where Buck thinks he and Eddie are just friends with benefits so he pushes Eddie to date other people because he’s an idiot.)

He packed up his essentials as the sun rose. There's an active shooter situation at Powell Middle School. The 118 rushes to the scene to be of assistance and to ensure the safety of Christopher Diaz and Denny Wilson, who are students there. Science teacher Evan Buckley will do whatever he can to get his students out of the situation safely, though escape seems unlikely from their position in the 3rd-floor library. Things get worse when an explosion brings part of the building down. Amidst the wreckage, he seeks to save the kids and find his sister. He winds up finding the family he never knew he always wanted. Alternate Universe fic. Things to know for the 'verse is that Buck is Christopher and Denny's science teacher at Powell Middle School. Because he isn't a firefighter, he does not know any of the 118. Maddie ended up taking a job as the school's nurse--and she never got introduced to Chimney. The rest is fairly canon. Athena and Bobby are still married. Harry is staying with his dad in Miami. TW: Most of the story will take place during the aftermath of a school shooting where explosives are set off. There are some gunshot wounds as well as other injuries described (though most not graphically).
