Eddie's fight club era has unexpected consequences that begin with Buck and Chris getting kidnapped at gunpoint. Nobody expects just how far Buck will go to keep his favorite Diaz safe.

“We need to talk,” Eddie said quietly, while they waited for the elevator in the hotel lobby. Buck huffed next to him. “No shit, Eddie.”“Not, uh, not just about that,” he said, and then Buck was looking at him curiously and Eddie almost got cold feet. If he didn't tell him, they weren't married, right?He pulled out his wallet, carefully turned it over, and let the rings drop into his hand. “About this.”Buck, to give him credit, took it better than Eddie had. “No..” he whispered, looking horrified. “Noo! We didn't..” Or: Buck and Eddie wake up with a bad hangover, a marriage certificate and more questions than answers. Eddie realizes he has to reevaluate some things, but life gets in the way.

There's an active shooter situation at Powell Middle School. The 118 rushes to the scene to be of assistance and to ensure the safety of Christopher Diaz and Denny Wilson, who are students there. Science teacher Evan Buckley will do whatever he can to get his students out of the situation safely, though escape seems unlikely from their position in the 3rd-floor library. Things get worse when an explosion brings part of the building down. Amidst the wreckage, he seeks to save the kids and find his sister. He winds up finding the family he never knew he always wanted. Alternate Universe fic. Things to know for the 'verse is that Buck is Christopher and Denny's science teacher at Powell Middle School. Because he isn't a firefighter, he does not know any of the 118. Maddie ended up taking a job as the school's nurse--and she never got introduced to Chimney. The rest is fairly canon. Athena and Bobby are still married. Harry is staying with his dad in Miami. TW: Most of the story will take place during the aftermath of a school shooting where explosives are set off. There are some gunshot wounds as well as other injuries described (though most not graphically).
