When she’d tilted her head for Vi to follow her, to leave the cell she’d spent months in alone, Vi hadn’t known what to do. So, she’d taken one step at a time until she was down the hall and in the elevator. Had stood with the woman and the burly guard who’d walloped her good so many times over the years.
