Kon had a good life. A great life, actually, considering where it had started (a test tube in a lab funded by a supervillain, which was admittedly not hard to beat but still). He went to high school, he lived with his dad (Superman!) and his mom (badass reporter Lois Lane!) and his annoying but adorable younger brother, he spent every other weekend at his grandparents farm in Kansas, and he was also a well respected member of the Teen Titans. Yes, anyone who took a look at his life would say it was a good one. Full of family, friends, fun, privilege, and not to mention superpowers. From an objective standpoint, his life was complete. So why could he never shake the feeling that something was missing?

And the silence. “I guess I ought to go clean my face properly.” She should, but Caitlyn didn’t want her to go. She didn’t want Vi to be left alone. “Your nose still needs a splint. I’ll come with you.” Vi chuckled, “I thought I was loathsome.” "You are," Caitlyn said, breaking the tension with a warm smile, "but I don’t leave anything half-finished." Caitlyn rifled through the first aid kit for the items she wanted, a soft bandage to cover Vi’s nose and some medical tape to secure both her nose and the sterile pad in place. She placed them into a small belt pouch that came in the box and secured that to one of the loops on her waistband. Every movement felt scrutinised.
