Around it, the air seems to ripple, as if reality itself is bending in the creature’s presence. The trees warp and twist in its wake, their black bark peeling away to reveal glistening, sinewy flesh underneath. Above, the sky is a flat, oppressive red, casting long, distorted shadows across the forest floor. The beast never stops grinning, even as it moves closer to its prey, its teeth glistening like sharpened blades waiting to tear through flesh.
