In 1942, Soviet pilot Alexey Maresyev was shot down over enemy territory. Seriously wounded, he crawled through the forests for 18 days to his, eating roots. Doctors amputated both his legs, but he didn't give up. After learning to walk on prostheses, Maresiev returned to service and got back at the wheel. He shot down 7 enemy planes, becoming a legend. His story formed the basis for the book “The Tale of a real person”.
